- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I first tore a major ligament in my thumb at the end of September, last year. After weeks of visiting the sports doctors at my university, 3 x-rays on different occasions, an MRI, and a visit to the local Orthopaedic surgeon -- who told me that surgery might not be the best option and instead suggested I live with a torn ligament and try to increase its function through physical therapy-- I had begun to lose hope in my capacity to perform daily activities as well as in even being able to participate in more physically demanding activities like sports. Looking for a second opinion, I was suggested a handful of the best Orthopaedic surgeons in Texas-- Dr, Rowland included-- and ultimately decided to go with him based on someone's recommendation who had experienced Dr. Rowland's work first hand. 3 months after my initial injury, Dr. Rowland performed surgery to repair my ligament. Now, 2 months after this surgery, I am again able to enjoy doing the things I was able to do before tearing my ligament in the first place. In addition to Dr. Rowland's abilities as a surgeon, he and his staff were extremely kind and helpful whenever it came to answering questions and in scheduling the surgery/appointments. Even more so, it was extremely reassuring to know that he genuinely cared about my complete recovery. In all of my past visits with doctors and surgeons, I have never had a better experience than with Dr. Rowland and his staff.
